Microsoft uses its Technology to Communicate Campus Renovation Updates
Using the company’s technology during the headquarters build-out, Microsoft employees are able to use their phone to see a fully rendered model of a particular section of the campus and not the “mounds of dirt” any other person would see walking by the construction zone.
This headquarter expansion will add 3 million square feet of space including 500,000 square feet of amenities. The idea behind using technology throughout the renovation is to not only get the employees excited about the project and to look past all of the chaos a renovation project may bring, but to communicate all project updates to the employees. In addition, Microsoft is looking further into what infrastructure may be needed to support connections between physical and technology environments.
As of today, 13 of the oldest buildings have been demolished and 17 new buildings across 72 acres are in the process of being built. In total, those buildings will hold 12,000 employees.
